Vincennes University’s 2026-27 academic year has kicked off. Freshmen and returning students commenced relocating into residence halls as well as other university housing facilities last week, using their time during the weekend preparing themselves for the upcoming fall semester.

“I kind of just love how chaotic it is. Like, there’s just so many people moving in, and you see just so many like new faces. And all the freshmen moving in, like, they just look so excited to live here.”
Faculty members and employees met last week at the Opening Meeting of the University at Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. The opening meeting also marked 225 years of VU. The meeting included a candle-lighting ceremony, which was held to mark the Trailblazer spirit of VU. Faculty members and employees lighted their candles by answering queries of times when they had inspired a student or faculty member, intervened for them, celebrated their achievement, or made them feel welcome at VU.
Dr. Chuck Johnson, President of the University, addressed the employees and informed them that their efforts both within the classroom and beyond, make a difference in the lives of students, parents, employers, and communities.
