A new educational series highlighting local careers will be introduced to the community this Saturday in Vincennes.
WVUT-TV at Vincennes University is hosting a free premiere event for its new video series, “People in Your Neighborhood,” on Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Lothian and Red Skelton Gallery of Fine Art inside the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy.
The project is designed to introduce children to jobs and careers they may encounter in everyday life. The first 25 episodes will debut during the event, with each one focusing on a different profession and featuring artwork created by local children.
WVUT-TV says the series includes a wide range of careers, from skilled trades and manufacturing jobs to robotics, museum work, podcasting, law, and website design.
Education and Community Engagement Coordinator Allyson Bowers says the goal is to help children see different possibilities for their future while also bringing local professionals and families together.
Curriculum materials tied to the project will also be on display for educators and childcare providers to preview for use in classrooms and daycare settings. The series will also be available online.
