The Bicknell City Council is considering installation of a splash pad at Southside Park.

During Monday’s City Council meeting, Councilman Rod Mullins said that he had made some contacts with individuals who may be willing to donate time and material for the project.

City personnel would also be involved with some of the utility work.

Mayor Thomas Estabrook says that a splash pad would be a great addition to the park and would be a new amenity to make the city more attractive.

The discussion amidst reports that Swimland will not be opening this season.

The Vincennes Sun-Commercial says the swimming pool was cited by county health officials for 24 infractions including the lack of a pool operator.

The newspaper quotes Mayor Estabrook as staying Swimland is also in need of about 400-thousand dollars in upgrades and repairs.

Money which the community owned pool doesn’t have.
